Why is it called Steward Lab?

Every one of us is stewarding the resources God has given us. Steward Lab was created to help Christians be intentional with what we have.

We chose Lab, because labs are interactive. They’re where we put into practice what we learn. Steward Lab isn’t just education, it’s all about taking action and experimenting with money. Many people don’t take any action, because they’re worried about making a money mistake. Give yourself permission to try new things and potentially fail. We’re here to guide you through the process.

A great illustration of good stewardship is the parable of the talents aka the parable of the bags of gold. There are three men in this parable in Matthew 25:14-30. One that is given five bags of gold, one that is given two bags, and one that is given one bag of gold.

The men who were given more gold doubled what they were given. The man who was given one bag of gold, dug a hole in the ground and hid his master’s money.

When the master came back he wasn’t pleased with the man who buried his master’s money. He had him give the gold to the man who now had ten bags of gold.

Here’s the bottomline: we’re all stewarding our master’s money. We all have different amounts. How we steward that money matters. God isn’t pleased if we hide it, ignore it, and do nothing proactive with it. Steward Lab is here to help you be proactive and actively steward and grow God’s resources effectively.

Will Steward Lab work for me if…

If you’ve tried everything under the sun and still feel stuck, Steward Lab is for you. We’ve worked with hundreds of clients and many of them have tried it all and still feel stuck. Our methods are grace-based and will help you on an identity level. Many approaches out there are a band-aid fix that doesn’t address the root cause. We’ll help you believe you’re a good steward and live into that identity.

Steward Lab is good for people who:

  • Want to be less stressed about money
  • Are tired of being financially stuck
  • Have debt they want to pay off
  • Are debt free
  • Want to save more for retirement
  • Are living paycheck to paycheck
  • Want to connect with their spouse about money
  • Are unorganized and don’t have a good money system
  • Are struggling with a financial crisis
  • Want to stop feeling guilt and shame around money
  • Don’t want to waste time to get results

You don’t have to get your financial life in order before joining Steward Lab. In fact, we show you how to get your finances in order inside of this course. This is the fastest way to get intentional with the resources God has given you.

Who shouldn’t join Steward Lab?

This is a Christian online coaching program taught from a Biblical perspective. If that offends you, Steward Lab is probably not a good fit for you.

If you aren’t self-motivated and don’t want to make changes in your financial life, Steward Lab isn’t probably the right fit for you. Our one-on-one coaching clients have a higher level of accountability. If you want 1-on-1 attention, that will likely be the best fit for you. Get on a free call with us HERE to see if that’s a good fit for you.

Steward Lab was created for adults. This isn’t specifically geared toward teenagers or kids to do on their own. There is a course inside to help you teach and train your children financial principles coming soon.

Do I need to be married to join Steward Lab?

Nope, you can be single just like Jesus. Everything inside of Steward Lab was created with you in mind. It’s not just for couples.

We do recommend doing some of the exercises with a trusted friend or family member. You can also invite others to join you, if you want extra accountability and motivation.

How long does it take to complete Steward Lab?

Steward Lab is self-paced. You can spend as little or as long as you want on each lesson. The lessons are no-fluff and to the point. So, we don’t put a time-frame on it.

The goal isn’t to power through it, but to take action and put what you learn into practice. You’re not in a race to beat anyone else.

Your monthly membership gives you full access to everything inside Steward Lab, plus the live coaching calls. We’re continually adding more and more content to help you experience transformation.

Do I need to get my finances in order before joining Steward Lab?

No, you don’t have to get your ducks in a row before joining. Steward Lab was created to help you get your ducks in a row as quickly and sustainable as possible.

If you wait until you have your finances in order, you’ll be missing out on opportunities for your money to grow and for you to practice being a good steward.

So many people waste time, energy, and frustration trying to DIY their finances. You don’t have to ‘figure it out’ on your own. We’ve worked with hundreds of people and have seen fantastic results. You can be one of them.

How much does Steward Lab cost?

We wanted to create a coaching program that’s more accessible and affordable than our private one-on-one coaching. You can get the benefits of coaching at a fraction of the price. When working with us, our clients typically free up $800-$4,500 per month to fund their goals. They experience less financial stress, more confidence, clarity, and empowerment.

What if my spouse isn’t on board?

This can be a really challenging dynamic, and it really depends on the situation. The best case scenario is that you and your spouse work together through Steward Lab. This will help you to connect over money and not fight about it. Money problems are one of the leading causes of divorce. It’s key to get this area of your lives in order. It could save your marriage!

We don’t want Steward Lab to be a contention in your relationship. If your spouse doesn’t want to participate, but they’re fine with you enrolling in Steward Lab, then you have a green light. We’ve had clients who haven’t had an onboard spouse, but they were still able to make massive progress. It’s always ideal and more effective to be on the same page as your spouse.

Almost every single couple we work with has uneven financial roles. Typically one person is in charge of the money and is usually pretty stressed about it. The other spouse doesn’t have many financial responsibilities and usually has a low stress level.

Both spouses need to know what is going on with their finances and be able to manage them. There is a high likelihood that you or your spouse will outlive the other. It’s important to be aware and capable of managing finances on your own. Steward Lab will equip you to both get on the same page and know how to steward God’s resources effectively.

Is this just like Financial Peace University (FPU)?

Nope, we’re not Dave Ramsey and we won’t walk you through the baby steps. Our approach to finances is pretty different. Many of our one-on-one clients have taken or led Financial Peace University, but they aren’t experiencing that peace that they desire. Guilt and shame aren’t healthy motivators, and sadly those tactics are used often in the financial world.

We believe that money isn’t black or white, there’s a lot of gray and nuance to it. Our spending, saving, giving, and investing should reflect our values. And as Christians, we do share some common values. One of our goals inside of Steward Lab is to help you determine what your values are and fund what matters to you.

Financial Peace University is a great fit for people who want to be told exactly what to do. Ramsey has a black and white approach to money. He bases his advice off of his values. If you’re up for being gazelle intense, using the Snowball Method, his seven baby steps, and cutting your credit cards, then he’s your guy.

We focus on sustainability and creating a system to help you make financial progress even when life is overwhelming and full. The pace you take to reach your financial goals is up to you. We believe that you can enjoy life WHILE working towards your big goals.

You don’t have to focus on one financial step at a time. You can save, pay off debt, and contribute to retirement at the same time. We believe there is more than one way to pay off debt. There are four debt payoff methods to choose from inside of Steward Lab.

We believe that credit cards aren’t evil. How you use them matters. For some people, cutting up credit cards is needed. But many people pay off their credit card every month and never carry a balance, this really isn’t an issue. This is an example of how we see gray, while Ramsey is black and white.

The nuts and bolts of our program versus FPU are quite different. Financial Peace University is made up of nine one-hour long video lessons done in a small group. Steward Lab has group coaching calls, accountability sessions, and we have twenty self-paced courses. Our program will probably take you longer than nine weeks to accomplish, but we show you how to put what you learn into practice.

The most valuable part of being inside of Steward Lab is the live coaching and Q&A calls. This alone is well worth the investment in Steward Lab. Plus, we have accountability sessions where you can actively work on any financial task along with others inside of Steward Lab. If you need any 1-on-1 help, we can go in a virtual breakout session.

You can join Steward Lab at any time. You don’t have to wait for a class to get started. All the lessons are in our coaching portal and can be completed on your schedule. We do have live coaching calls that are best when you can show up live, but they will be recorded so you can watch them later.

Our courses focus on showing you how to take action and activities that will help you experience transformation in your financial life. Financial Peace University focuses on the education side.

Dave recommends that you hire a Dave-preferred Financial Coach that has gone through his Ramsey Financial Coaching Master Training to walk you through how to put it into practice. Steward Lab gives you the education and more importantly the coaching needed to create positive lasting change. You don’t need an additional Financial Coach, unless you want one-on-one support.
